HaryanaPromise of MSP to farmers, they are giving sticks and bullets: Kumari Selja webindianews.in10 months ago10 months ago05 mins Promise of MSP to farmers, they are giving sticks and bullets: Kumari Selja Web India News, Chandigarh, 14 Feb. Kumari Selja, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and former Union Minister, said that the BJP government at the Center, which had promised to make a law on MSP for farmers’ crops, is now engaged in lathi-charge and firing. It is condemnable to stop farmers from peacefully reaching the capital within their own country and to treat them like a dictator. Police fired 500 tear gas shells at farmers on the Shambhu border, injuring more than 100 farmers. The government should give up dictatorship and instead of crushing the farmers’ movement by force, it should resolve it through talks to fulfill its promise. In a statement issued to the media, Kumari Selja said that the farmers of Punjab had been reminding the Central Government of its promise for a long time. They were announcing the Delhi march in case of non-fulfillment, but the dictatorial government sitting in Delhi did not pay attention to their words and when the farmers have left for Delhi, the BJP-JJP coalition government of the state, acting as a puppet of the Center, is firing rubber bullets at them. It is firing tear gas shells and lathi-charging. The former Union Minister said that the farmers are on the verge of suicide due to debt, but it is a matter of shame that the Central Government does not have the money to waive the loans of 62 crore farmers of the country, while the Prime Minister has waived off loans of Rs 10 lakh 50 thousand crore to his few industrialist friends in one go. This clearly shows that the BJP-led central government is anti-farmer and anti-labor. It is only a government of capitalists. Kumari Selja said that the country’s small and big economic activities are run because of the farmers. Even a small grocery shop runs only when the farmer has money in his pocket. The sale of new products in the market increases only after a good crop is produced. But, the farmer is not even getting the price of his crop in the BJP regime. The central government and the BJP-led state governments constantly harass the farmers and discriminate against them. The former Union Minister said that the Prime Minister and his central government should give up their stubbornness. Farmer leaders should be invited for talks with immediate effect. If the farmers want to go to Delhi, they should also be welcomed to reach the capital and express their views, instead of being fired upon and lathi-charged. She said that on the one hand, while the government is oppressing the farmers, the people are also troubled by the government’s stubbornness. Section 144 has been imposed in 15 districts and internet service has been suspended in seven districts, which has been restored and then suspended again till February 15. The closure of bus operations is causing inconvenience to passengers, people have to walk 10-10 km. Children’s education is being disrupted due to internet closure. Due to the ban on commercial vehicles, the supply of vegetables and other food items is not even happening from one district to another. The prices of goods in the market have skyrocketed. The people are upset due to the dictatorship of the government.
