New Delhi: Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Congress leader Randeep Surjewala for his remarks against BJP leader Hema Malini. The Commission has asked him to reply by 5 pm on April 11. The EC asked party president Mallikarjun Kharge to take action against her to ensure respectful public discourse towards women by political leaders and functionaries.
The EC said that election campaign cannot be allowed to become a platform for insulting women. The Congress president will respond to the steps taken by the party to ensure strict compliance of the Commission’s advice to uphold the honour and dignity of women during the public meeting by all party leaders.
