Young Biker Killed in Tragic Collision with Wrong-Side SUV in Gurugram
A young biker, Akshat Garg, tragically lost his life when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV driving on the wrong side of the road in DLF Phase II, Gurugram, authorities reported. The incident, involving a Mahindra 3XO, occurred on Sunday, September 15. The SUV driver, identified as Kuldeep Thakur, was arrested but later released on bail.
The accident was captured on a GoPro camera worn by Akshat’s friend, documenting the collision on a high-speed lane near Belvedere Park on Golf Course Road. Pradyuman, a close friend and eyewitness, alleged that Thakur’s reckless driving on the wrong side of the road led to the fatal crash. Despite the quick arrival of an ambulance, Akshat succumbed to his injuries.
The video also shows Pradyuman confronting Thakur, questioning his wrong-side driving, while urging bystanders to call the police. Gurugram Police have registered an FIR against Thakur under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Section 106 (causing death by negligence), Section 281 (rash driving), Section 324(4) (mischief causing damage exceeding Rs 20,000), and Section 166 (compensation after a motor vehicle accident). Though detained at the scene, Thakur was later granted bail.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether an alcohol or drug test was conducted on Thakur, and no official statement has been released so far. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
