Mahendragarh: A horrific accident unfolded on Thursday in Mahendragarh district, Haryana, leaving a trail of grief and devastation. A school bus belonging to GLP School, Kanina, carrying students from nearby villages, met with a tragic fate when it overturned near Unhani village. In this accident six children tragically died and 15 others were injured.

The incident, which occurred around 8:30 am, claimed the lives of six innocent children. The bus, reportedly carrying around 43 children, was navigating a turn near a college located close to Unhani village when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off course, struck a tree, and overturned. Eyewitness accounts allege that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Local residents, upon witnessing the accident, rushed to the scene and sprang into action. They quickly evacuated the injured children and transported them to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The prompt response from the local community ensured that the injured received care as swiftly as possible.

The accident scene became a chaotic mix of worry and despair as news of the incident spread. Within half an hour, a large crowd of people had gathered. Police arrived at the scene and promptly apprehended the bus driver.

The injured children were taken to a nearby private hospital and the sub-civil hospital in Kanina for treatment. Unfortunately, the severity of the accident proved fatal for four children who succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Two other critically injured children lost their lives during treatment within an hour of the accident.

Dharmendra, the driver of the ill-fated bus and a resident of Sehlang village, was taken to Mahendragarh Civil Hospital for a medical examination. Reports identified the deceased children as Yakshu, Satyam, and Sandeep from Jharli village, Vansh and Dushyant from Dhanonda village, and Yuvraj.

On the directions of Superintendent of Police Arsh Verma, school principal Deepti of Kanina, bus driver Dharmendra
of Sehlang and one accused Hoshiar Singh, secretary of Kanina school were also arrested. Police are questioning the accused.

The accident sent shockwaves across the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and his wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured. He assured that the local administration, under the state government’s supervision, was providing all possible assistance to the victims and their families. President Droupadi Murmu also offered her heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. She expressed her hope that the injured students would make a full recovery.
