Faridabad, 20 February: In a significant push for development in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore during a visit to the Union Territory on February 20th, 2024.

Focus on Education and Healthcare:

·         Dedicated campuses of prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISERs, IIITDM and IIS were inaugurated, with foundation stones laid for new campuses.

·         AIIMS Jammu was inaugurated, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the region.

Improved Infrastructure:

·         New terminal building for Jammu Airport, rail projects including new lines and electrification, road projects including expressways and bypasses, and a CUF petroleum depot were announced.

·         Upgradation of roads, bridges, power grids, sewage treatment, smart city initiatives, fruit mandi, drug testing lab, and transit accommodation were included in the plans.

Empowering Communities:

·         Projects benefiting farmers, youth, women, SC, and ST communities were highlighted.

·         The abrogation of Article 370 was seen as a key factor in unlocking development potential.

Key Messages:

·         The Indian government is committed to investing heavily in Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other sectors.
