Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin that India stands for peace, emphasizing that peace is paramount and that bombs cannot solve problems. PM Modi also addressed the issue of terrorism, stating, “Terrorism is dangerous for any country. India has been facing terrorism for the last 40-50 years.”

During their meeting, Prime Minister Modi and President Putin discussed issues related to peace, security, and terrorism. Modi expressed India’s readiness to assist in any way possible. On Tuesday, President Putin conferred the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, Russia’s highest civilian honor, on Prime Minister Modi.

“I assure the world community that India stands for peace. Yesterday, I heard my friend Putin talking about peace. This gives me hope,” said PM Modi, emphasizing the possibility of restoring peace.

“As a friend, I have always said that peace is extremely important for the bright future of our coming generations. However, I also know that a solution is not possible on the battlefield. Solutions and peace talks do not succeed amidst bombs, guns, and bullets. We have to walk the path of peace through dialogue,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the human toll of both war and terrorism, expressing deep sorrow for the loss of innocent lives, especially children. He reiterated this sentiment in his discussion with President Putin.

“The focus of the entire world is on my visit,” Modi told Putin. “The whole world is interpreting this journey in different ways. Yesterday, you invited me to your residence, and like true friends, we spent 4-5 hours together discussing many issues. I am glad that we openly discussed the issue of Ukraine in detail, trying to listen to and understand each other’s opinions respectfully.”
