Faridabad: Vikram Singh, District Election Officer, has announced that the Election Commission of India has issued strict guidelines prohibiting the use of children in any political campaigning activities for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

These guidelines apply to all political parties and candidates and encompass any form of child involvement in election campaigns, including:

·         Distribution of posters and pamphlets

·         Sloganeering and rallying

·         Participation in election meetings

·         Creation or performance of content like poems, songs, or speeches promoting a political party or candidate

·         Display of political symbols or party ideology

·         Promotion of individual achievements

Singh clarified that the presence of a child with their parents or guardian near a political leader, as long as the child is not actively involved in any campaign activity, will not be considered a violation.

He emphasized that all political parties and candidates must strictly adhere to the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission. The district administration will ensure strict enforcement of these regulations.
