Faridabad: An agreement has been signed with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. This agreement with the Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Faridabad includes the establishment of a plant to produce green charcoal from waste. This initiative is seen as a pre-election gift to Faridabad and Gurugram by CM Saini.

Today marks a significant achievement for Haryana as an agreement has been reached between the Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Faridabad and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited. This agreement will facilitate the construction of plants to produce green charcoal from waste, with these plants being established in Gurugram and Faridabad. Each plant will have a capacity of 1,500 tonnes and the project will cost around Rs 500 crore per plant.

The plants will be set up at Bandwadi in Gurugram and Mothuka in Faridabad, as announced by Naib Singh Saini. For this, 20 acres of land are being provided by each municipal corporation. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months, and it aims to eliminate the garbage dumps in Faridabad and Gurugram, providing cleaner air to the residents. This initiative is a result of PM Modi’s vision.

Saini stated that the waste will be sorted and sent to these plants to produce green charcoal, which will be used as a fuel alongside mineral coal. This will reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to power generation.
