Four Suspected ISIS Terrorists Arrested at Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: Four individuals suspected to be associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and believed to be Sri Lankan nationals have been apprehended at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officers confirmed the arrests and are currently interrogating the suspects.

According to sources, the Gujarat ATS had been monitoring activities at the Ahmedabad airport for several days. To facilitate the operation, four police teams were strategically positioned to surveil and capture the suspects. The arrests took place on Sunday night, and the suspects are now undergoing intensive interrogation.

The timing of the arrests coincided with the arrival of three IPL teams at the Ahmedabad airport for the upcoming qualifier and eliminator games, prompting a significant increase in security measures at the airport.

Reports from Hindustan Times suggest that the suspects traveled to Ahmedabad via Chennai, originating from Sri Lanka, and were allegedly in contact with handlers in Pakistan. The vigilance and strategic planning of the Gujarat ATS led to the successful capture of these individuals, emphasizing the importance of security and intelligence operations in preventing potential terrorist activities.
