Faridabad Half Marathon: DC Vikram Singh Calls for Maximum Public Participation

Faridabad, 19 February: Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh has called for maximum public participation in the upcoming Faridabad Half Marathon, scheduled to be held on March 3. The event will see thousands of runners participating in different categories. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal will be the chief guest at the event and will felicitate the winning participants.

DC Singh held a review meeting with representatives of government and private schools, colleges, and RWAs in Faridabad on Monday to discuss the preparations for the event. He directed them to ensure maximum participation of the general public in the marathon.

The Faridabad Half Marathon will be an annual event on the lines of similar events held in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Thousands of professional runners have already registered for the marathon on the website [www.faridabadhalfmarathon.com]. The registration will be open till February 29. The marathon will start from the Surajkund complex and will go up to the Badkhal turn and back.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in different categories. The winner of the 21 km open category half marathon will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, the second place winner will get Rs 1 lakh, and the third place winner will get Rs 75,000. There will also be a 5 km fun marathon in which children, youth, and senior citizens can participate.

Runners will be able to calculate their actual run time using a chip-enabled bib. The bib will also allow them to download their photos from the event after the completion of the marathon.

National-level artists will perform live at the event. There will be small stages set up at regular intervals along the marathon route where artists will perform to boost the morale of the runners. Medical stations will be set up every two kilometers along the marathon route. These stations will have glucose, energy drinks, and mobile toilets. Volunteers and police personnel will be deployed along the route to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

Students of Class 11 and Class 9 from all universities and government and non-government schools in Gurugram will also be encouraged to participate in the event. To register for the marathon, interested citizens can visit the website [www.faridabadhalfmarathon.com]. They will need to register with their mobile number and email ID and will receive an OTP. They will then need to fill in their personal and other details.

 

The meeting was attended by ADC Anand Sharma, SDM Badkhal Amit Mann, CEO Zila Parishad Satbir Mann, SDM Faridabad Amit Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Ankit Kumar, DIPRO Rakesh Gautam, and officials from other departments.
