Dwarka Expressway Opens, Ushering in a New Era of Connectivity for Delhi and Haryana
Gurugram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the long-awaited Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, marking a significant milestone in infrastructure development. This 19-kilometer stretch promises to revolutionize travel between Delhi and Gurugram, reducing commute times to a mere 20 minutes.
Transforming the NCR Landscape
The Dwarka Expressway signifies the government’s dedication to overcoming hurdles and fostering growth. The area where it stands today was once considered unsafe, but now thrives as a hub for major corporations, bolstering the National Capital Region’s (NCR) development.
Strategic Infrastructure for a Booming Economy
This expressway serves a crucial purpose by connecting Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Gurugram. Such infrastructure projects not only enhance connectivity but also stimulate economic activity and integrate the NCR more effectively.
Haryana Government Praised for Timely Completion
Prime Minister Modi commended the Haryana government, particularly Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, for completing the project on schedule. Their commitment to modernizing the state’s infrastructure is instrumental in achieving “Viksit Haryana” (Developed Haryana) and “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
A Holistic Vision for the NCR
The government has a comprehensive plan for the NCR’s infrastructure development. Timely completion of projects like the Dwarka Expressway, Peripheral Expressways, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is central to this vision. These projects, along with metro line expansions and new international airports, aim to ease traffic congestion and reduce pollution in the region.
Infrastructure for Poverty Reduction and Progress
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the link between infrastructure and poverty alleviation. Improved roads and digital connectivity in rural areas open up new opportunities for villagers. He pointed to the emergence of new possibilities in rural India, driven by digital infrastructure and access to essential services. This development, he asserted, has helped lift 25 crore Indians out of poverty in the past decade, propelling India to become the world’s 5th largest economy. Furthermore, rapid infrastructure construction promises to elevate India to the status of the world’s third largest economic power.
From Delays to Deliveries: A New Era of Infrastructure Development
The Prime Minister contrasted the current government’s approach to infrastructure with the past. He emphasized their commitment to completing projects on time, irrespective of elections. This dedication is evident in the completion of long-pending projects like the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Dwarka Expressway itself.
A Future of Unprecedented Growth
Looking ahead, the focus is on creating a 9,000 km high-speed corridor, with 4,000 km already under construction. Additionally, the number of metro cities has increased from 5 in 2014 to 21 today. Prime Minister Modi concluded by expressing his belief that this development pace will accelerate significantly in the next five years.
