Delhi-NCR to Get Relief from Scorching Heat as Monsoon Arrives Soon

New Delhi: The much-awaited monsoon is set to reach Delhi-NCR in the next two to three days. The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain from June 26 to July 1, with an official notification issued. Light showers are expected between June 26 and June 28, with increased rainfall intensity from June 29 onwards. During this period, temperatures will range between 35-38 degrees Celsius. Despite the approaching rains, the situation is anticipated to remain tense, with no significant weather relief in sight.

Heavy rainfall has recently lashed North India, providing much-needed respite from the scorching heat and preventing temperatures from rising above 40 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature recorded was 39.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 28.6 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than Monday’s maximum of 40 degrees Celsius.

Tuesday also saw cloudy skies and light drizzles, which, while offering some relief, also caused inconvenience due to high humidity levels recorded at 92 percent. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in the plains of northwest India are expected to drop by two to three degrees in the coming days.

The monsoon is predicted to affect several states in northwest India from June 26, with cloudy skies, light rain, and wind speeds of 25-35 km/h. Delhi is expected to experience moderate rainfall on June 29, with wind speeds increasing to 30-40 km/h. Since June 1, Delhi has recorded a total of 06.4 mm of rainfall.
