Congress releases election manifesto for Lok Sabha election, Promises ‘justice and 25 guarantees’
New Delhi: Congress today released its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The manifesto was released by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi. The party has named its manifesto as’ Nyay Patra. “The manifesto is based on ‘five justice and 25 guarantees’. These five are “share justice,” “farmer justice,” “women justice,” “labour justice” and “youth justice.” The manifesto also promises 30 lakh government jobs.
“Our manifesto is dedicated to the poor “This manifesto of ours will be remembered in the political history of the country as a document of justice. The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi was focused on this. During the visit, five pillars were announced – Youth Justice, Farmers Justice, Women Justice, Labour Justice and Participatory Justice. Out of these five pillars, 25 guarantees emerge and in every 25 guarantees, someone gets the benefit.’
The manifesto promises 30 lakh jobs in the central government, Rs one lakh per annum for women from poor families, caste census, and legal status to MSP, MNREGA wages of Rs 400, stopping misuse of investigating agencies and changes in the PMLA Act.
According to the Congress, its manifesto is based on the party’s five Nyays – ‘Share Nyay’, ‘Kisan Nyay’, ‘Nari Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Yuva Nyay’.The five guarantees that the party has talked about under ‘Yuva Nyay’ include the promise of 30 lakh government jobs and Rs 1 lakh under the apprenticeship programme for one year to the youth.
The Congress has given a “guarantee” to conduct a caste census under “share justice” and remove the 50 per cent cap on reservation. The party has promised legal status to minimum support price (MSP), setting up of a loan waiver commission and GST-free farming under ‘Kisan Nyay’.The Congress has promised workers the right to health, a minimum wage of Rs 400 per day and an urban employment guarantee under ‘Shramik Nyay’.At the same time, under ‘Nari Nyay’, under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ guarantee, women from poor families have been given several promises, including one lakh rupees per year.
The manifesto of the Congress party claims that the party will ensure that like every citizen, minorities also have the freedom of choice of clothing, food, language and personal laws. We will encourage reforms in personal laws. The Congress says such reform must be done with the participation and consent of the communities concerned.”
