Congress Leader’s Daughter Stabbed by Former College Student in Hubbali
In a shocking turn of events, Neha Hiremath, the 23-year-old daughter of a Congress leader, was brutally attacked and stabbed seven times by a former college student in Hubbali. The suspect, identified as Fayaz Khondunaik, allegedly carried out the heinous act because Neha had reportedly rejected his advances.
Neha, a first-year student pursuing a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree, had encountered Fayaz during her academic tenure, where they were classmates. According to police sources, Fayaz confessed during interrogation that he and Neha had previously been in a relationship. However, recent interactions indicated that Neha was avoiding him, which allegedly led to his violent outburst.
Upon learning of the attack, Neha was rushed to the nearest medical facility for urgent treatment. However, despite efforts by medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries. The local police have swiftly apprehended Fayaz Khondunaik, who is currently in custody pending further investigation.
During interrogation, Fayaz admitted to having a past relationship with Neha but claimed she had started avoiding him recently. This tragic incident has spiraled into a political feud between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP. The Congress seeks to frame the murder as a personal tragedy, while the BJP criticizes it as indicative of deteriorating law and order under Congress governance.
Union Minister and BJP candidate Pralhad Joshi raised concerns of a ‘love jihad’ angle in the incident, suggesting religiously motivated entrapment. However, Home Minister G Parameshwara dismissed these claims. Neha’s father, Niranjan Hiremath, a Congress corporator, labeled the crime as a ‘Love Jihad’ case, alleging a premeditated plan to harm his daughter. He voiced frustration over perceived threats targeting his daughter, refuting assertions that the incident was purely personal.
