Congress and AAP alliance in 5 states including Delhi and Haryana, seats announced
New Delhi: Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have announced a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The AAP-Congress alliance will contest elections in five states including Haryana and Delhi. Congress General Secretary and MP Mukul Wasnik said that Congress will field candidates in nine out of 10 seats in Haryana and AAP will field candidates in one seat. There are seven seats in the Delhi Lok Sabha. Of these, the Aam Aadmi Party will contest four seats. These include New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi.
Congress leader Mukul Wasnik said in a press conference that the Congress will contest three seats. These include Chandni Chowk, North East and North West. Along with this, seat sharing between Congress and AAP was announced in Gujarat, Chandigarh and Goa.
However, there is no alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress in Punjab and Chandigarh. Both the parties will contest the elections separately.
Here is how the seats were divided:
· Delhi (seven seats): Congress-3 and AAP-4 will contest.
· Gujarat (26 seats): Congress-24 and AAP-2 (in Bharuch and Bhavnagar) will contest.
· Haryana (10 seats): Congress-9 and AAP-1 (Kurukshetra) will contest.
· Chandigarh: Congress will contest the lone seat.
· Goa: Congress will contest both the seats.
Congress General Secretary gives information
Congress General Secretary and MP Mukul Wasnik said that there are 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. Congress will contest on 9. One seat-Kurukshetra will have AAP candidates. He further said that after a long discussion on Chandigarh, it was finally decided that the Congress candidate will contest from there.
