Haryana: CM Nayab Saini Hoists Flag and Honors Freedom Fighters
In Kurukshetra, Chief Minister Nayab Saini presided over the state-level Independence Day celebrations, hoisting the flag at the Police Lines to mark the 78th anniversary of the nation’s freedom. In his address, he extended his best wishes to the people of Haryana, remarking on the significance of the tricolor being proudly displayed in every home. He paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom, expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the entire state.
Chief Minister Saini highlighted the progress made in Haryana under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the state’s commitment to the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. He proudly noted that Haryana plays a crucial role in the country’s industrial growth, with every second car on Indian roads being manufactured in the state. Additionally, Haryana boasts an expansive road network that contributes to its development.
He also mentioned the ongoing construction of the Martyr’s Memorial in Ambala Cantt, a project nearing completion with an investment of Rs 538 crore. The memorial is designed to inspire the next generation by honoring the sacrifices of those who fought for the nation’s freedom. Saini also highlighted the Haryana government’s recent decision to increase the monthly pension for freedom fighters and their widows by Rs 40,000 as of July. Furthermore, the state has provided Rs 1 crore in ex-gratia payments to the families of martyred soldiers, along with 415 government jobs for their dependents. The government has also introduced a 10% reservation in government jobs for Agniveers.
Chief Minister Saini praised the performance of Haryana’s athletes in the recently concluded Paris Olympics and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sports. The state offers the highest cash prizes for Olympic medalists in the country, providing Rs 6 crore to gold medalists, Rs 4 crore to silver medalists, and Rs 2.5 crore to bronze medalists. In addition to these financial rewards, the government also offers government jobs to these distinguished athletes.
