Baltimore: A horrific accident unfolded in Baltimore, Maryland this morning when a cargo ship collided with a major bridge, causing its collapse. The incident has left several people dead and many missing.

At approximately 8:00 am, Baltimore Coast Guard Officer Matthew West reported the partial collapse of the bridge spanning Baltimore Harbor. The Baltimore Fire Department swiftly confirmed the collapse, prompting the Maryland Transportation Authority to shut down all traffic on the bridge.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. However, the focus now lies on rescue efforts. Multiple agencies, including the Coast Guard and Fire Department, fear a significant number of casualties. Reports indicate several cars and people plunged into the water after the bridge gave way, with many still unaccounted for.

Baltimore Fire Department Director Kevin Cartwright confirmed at least 20 people and several vehicles were swept into the river below. Details regarding the vessel involved are emerging. Coast Guard officials identified the ship as the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel “Dali,” measuring 948 feet in length. The Dali was reportedly en route from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka, when it collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
