An ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) in Gurugram, India, was recently reprimanded by a court for saluting the judge with two fingers. The court has asked the Police Commissioner to take action against the ACP.

The incident took place on February 8, 2023, when ACP Naveen appeared in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Vikrant. After presenting an accused in a case, Sharma saluted the judge with two fingers.

When asked about his unconventional salute, ACP said that his shirt was tight and that he was unable to salute properly. However, the court was not convinced by his explanation.

The court pointed out that the Punjab Police Rules 1934 require all police officers to salute the court when entering a courtroom, regardless of the rank or position of the presiding judicial officer.

The court also noted that ACP’s actions showed a lack of respect for the court and the judicial process. The court has directed the Police Commissioner to take appropriate action against Sharma and to submit a report on the matter to the court.

The DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) West, Karan Goyal, said that the matter is being investigated and that a report will be submitted to the court soon.

This incident has highlighted the need for proper training of police officers in matters of etiquette and protocol. It is important for police officers to show respect for the court and the judicial process, and to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
