Ola Solo: Ola Electric Unveils World’s First Autonomous Electric Scooter
New Delhi: Ola Electric, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in India, has unveiled the world’s first autonomous electric scooter, named Ola Solo. The company shared a video of the scooter on its YouTube channel and social media handles, showcasing its self-balancing and autonomous capabilities.
Initially teased on April 1st, the Ola Solo was met with skepticism, with many believing it to be an April Fool’s joke. However, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola Electric, confirmed that the scooter is a working prototype and uploaded a video demonstrating its features on his personal Twitter handle.
In the video, the Ola Solo can be seen navigating through various environments without a rider, demonstrating its advanced autonomous technology. Aggarwal stated in his social media post that the Solo provides a “glimpse into the future of mobility” and that Ola’s engineering team is working on autonomous and self-balancing technologies for future two-wheelers. Ola Electric claims that the Solo will be entirely made in India.
Specifications of Ola Solo:
· AI Platform: Ola’s Quicky.AI software, capable of real-time decision making
· Processing Chip: LMAO 9000 chip, indigenously developed, for real-time traffic data analysis
· Autonomous Algorithm: JU-Guard, an in-house developed adaptive algorithm that analyzes rider patterns and road conditions for a comfortable ride
· Human Mode: Available for manual control
Ola Solo is not the first self-balancing scooter in the world. Liger Mobility had previously showcased the X and X+ models. However, the Ola Electric Solo is the first fully autonomous scooter with self-balancing capabilities. The unveiling of the Ola Solo marks a significant milestone in the development of autonomous vehicles and showcases India’s growing capabilities in the field of electric mobility.
