The Partiality and Exploitation of Farmers Will Not Be Tolerated, Congress Stands with the Farmers: Kumari Selja

Every Section of the Country Is Struggling for Their Rights Due to BJP's Anti-People Policies

Chandigarh: The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and MP of Sirsa, Kumari Selja, said that the government should not run by baton, bullet, false promises, and rhetoric, but by winning the hearts of the people. Instead of listening to the demands of the farmers who are protesting, the government is raining batons on them and allegedly filing sedition cases against them, which is undemocratic and inhumane.

In a democracy, everyone has the constitutional right to protest. The cases registered against the farmers of the Dabwali subdivision should be canceled. If the government does not change its attitude, the farmer, who is the provider of food, will overthrow the BJP from power. The farmers have only shown a trailer in the Lok Sabha elections; in the assembly elections, the public and the farmers will show the complete movie.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said the food provider farmers of this country are sitting on the roads for their rights, staging protests, and shouting for justice, but the BJP government is pretending to be deaf, either unable or unwilling to listen. Kumari Selja reiterated that the government should not run by baton, bullet, false promises, and rhetoric, but by winning the hearts of the people. The BJP government is suppressing the farmers and attempting to stifle their voices, which is extremely shameful and condemnable. Such behavior towards farmers is intolerable. Congress stands with the food providers. The way the BJP government is treating the farmers and laborers is unacceptable, and in the coming time, the state residents will not tolerate it at all. Farmers are our food providers, not the enemies of the country. She emphasized that the farmers of Dabwali subdivision were peacefully protesting for their constitutional rights, but instead of listening to them, the government falsely filed cases against them. Kumari Selja pointed out that farmers are troubled over transformers; where transformers are provided, they are substandard, and the company is not ready to listen to them. The company takes time, but the farmers do not have time as they also have to look after their crops.

The food production is also affected by the farmer’s agitation, but the government does not care about this either. She said that the governance and administration should stop their dictatorship and listen to the farmers. The neglect of farmers will not be tolerated in any way; Congress stands with the food providers. Regarding the ongoing strike of NHM employees in the state, Kumari Selja said that due to the stubbornness of the government, people’s lives are at risk. Due to this strike, ambulances are halted across the state, and consequently, the series of people taking their last breaths is not stopping.

The lives of mothers in labor and newborns are in danger. The government is indifferent to the strike by NHM employees and is playing the fiddle like Nero. The crumbling health system of the state and every breath taken is putting the BJP government in the dock. She said that the government should immediately talk to the strikers and resolve the issue; those who have lost their lives in this strike cannot get their lives back from the government.
