BSP and INLD Form Alliance Ahead of Haryana Assembly Elections
Chandigarh: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) have allied in preparation for the Haryana assembly elections. An agreement on seat sharing has been reached, with the INLD contesting 53 seats and the BSP 37 seats. Both parties’ leaders addressed a joint press conference in Chandigarh to announce this development.
Akash Anand, the BSP’s national convenor, stated, “When the government is formed, Abhay Chautala will be given the chief minister’s post. This alliance between the INLD and BSP will extend beyond the assembly elections to other small and large elections as well.” A detailed discussion on seat sharing took place between Abhay Chautala and Mayawati on July 6. Anand also commented on the state’s law and order situation, saying, “Law and order is deteriorating in the state, and criminals are getting protection from the government. The state has never seen such poor law enforcement before. Due to the BJP government’s misrule, the youth are falling prey to drugs.”
Abhay Chautala outlined the promises his government would make if it comes to power, stating, “We have developed a common minimum programme. If our government is formed in Haryana, children up to graduation will receive free education in both government and private universities. The elderly will be given a pension of Rs. 7500 per month. Additionally, free drinking water will be provided. We will also ensure that electricity bills do not exceed Rs 500, reducing the financial burden on people. Every housewife will receive a free gas cylinder each month.”
He concluded by saying, “This alliance is not based on self-interest but on the sentiments of the people. Our goal is to empower the poor sections of society and provide employment to the youth.”
