Mumbai Doctor Discovers Human Finger in Online Ice Cream Order
A Mumbai doctor’s ice cream craving took a horrifying turn on Wednesday. Dr. Orlem Brandon Serrao, residing in Malad, ordered ice cream with his online grocery delivery. However, the treat came with an unexpected and disturbing “topping” – a human finger.
Dr. Serrao, while enjoying his ice cream, felt a strange object in his mouth. Initially mistaking it for a nut, he spat it out only to discover a finger. A photo circulating online shows the gruesome discovery embedded in the ice cream. Thankfully, Dr. Serrao avoided swallowing the finger. In a video statement, he recounted the harrowing experience. “I ordered three ice cream cones through an app,” he explained, “One was a butterscotch flavored Yummo brand. After eating half, I felt something solid. Thinking it might be a nut or chocolate piece, I took it out for a closer look.”
That closer look sent shivers down his spine. “As a doctor, I’m familiar with human anatomy,” Dr. Serrao said. “Upon examination, I noticed fingernails and even fingerprint impressions. It looked like a thumb. I’m traumatized.” Taking immediate action, Dr. Serrao preserved the object in ice and reported the incident to the Malad police. A case against Yummo for food adulteration and endangering human life is now underway.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the finger through forensic analysis. The presence of a human body part in the food has raised concerns about a potentially larger crime. The incident comes as a shock, raising questions about food safety standards. Yummo Ice Creams, founded in 2012 by Walko Food Co. Ltd., is currently under investigation. Yummo Ice Creams responded by halting production at the involved facility, isolating the specific product batch, and initiating a market recall. The company claims product safety is their top priority and is cooperating with the investigation.
